23-01-10 : Eye Donation Drive
After noticing certain distressing facts regarding eye donation in Bengaluru ,Yuva Bengaluru decided to start the year 2010 with an eye donation drive. This project is taken up in association with Narayana Netralaya who are pioneers in eye donation.
The launch of the eye donation drive took place on the 23rd January 2010, Saturday at Deena Seva Sangha Community Hall. Over forty volunteers attended the launch and decided to volunteer for this cause.
The chief guest of the event was Mr. Raghavendra Rajkumar. After his father, Dr Rajkumar’s Death he has been actively involved in spreading awareness regarding eye donation. He congratulated Yuva Bengaluru for taking up this initiative and wished the entire team success in all the endeavors. He also said “I am glad that Yuva Bengaluru has taken up such a noble cause. This cause is extremely close to my heart and I extend all my support to Yuva Bengaluru.”

Dr Kaushik from Narayana Netralaya gave insight about facts on eye donations and broke myths on eye donation. He also said “Pledging an eye and donating an eye are two completely different things. Ultimately it comes to individual social responsibility. Hence the families need to be aware if one has pledged the eye” Yuva Bengaluru has thus planned to make eye donation, a family tradition.
On the launch the teachers of Deena Seva Sangha, volunteers and members of Yuva Bengaluru pledged to donate their eyes.
